A kinetic study of the intercalation of lithium salts into Al[(OH).sub.3]
Article Abstract:
In situ energy-dispersive X-ray diffraction is used to study the intercalation of five lithium salts into the gibbsite and bayerite polymorphs of Al[(OH).sub.3] and the kinetics and mechanisms of the reactions are modeled by using the Avrami-Erofe'ev model. All the reactions have proceeded directly from the host to the product, except for the intercalation of [Li.sub.2]S[O.sub.4] into gibbsite where a more hydrated intermediate form of [[Li[Al.sub.2][(OH).sub.6]].sub.2]S[O.sub.4].y[H.sub.2]O is generated prior to the final product.

Lithium exchange processes in the conduction network of the Nasicon Li[Ti.sub.2-x][Zr.sub.x][(P[O.sub.4]).sub.3] series (0 less than and equal to x less than and equal to 2)
Article Abstract:
Structural sites occupied by lithium in the rhombohedral Li[Ti.sub.2-x][Zr.sub.x][(P[O.sub.4]).sub.3] series (0 less than and equal to x less than and equal to 2) were investigated by [7.sup.Li] NMR spectroscopy. It was seen that in these compounds, the substitution of Ti by Zr expands the rhombohedral unit cell and as the temperature increases, a first-order displacive transformation is detected in the triclinical phase, but a second order disorder transition was detected in the rhombohedral phase.

Synthesis, X-ray diffraction characterization, and radiative properties of Er2O3-ZrO2 nanocrystals embedded in LAS glass ceramic
Article Abstract:
An examination on the low thermal expansion of Li2O-Al2O3-SiO2 (LAS) glass ceramic is carried out as a host matrix for erbium ion and also ZrO2 is added as a nucleating agent. The results confirm that after the thermal treatment at 1000 degree-Celsius, the crystallization of nanoparticles constituted by an Er2O3-ZrO2 solid solution with narrow size distribution could be achieved.
